One of the most prominent historical sites in Gauteng is the Apartheid Museum, located in Johannesburg. Another significant landmark is Constitution Hill, also situated in Johannesburg. This former prison complex once held prominent political activists, including Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi.
For those interested in prehistoric history, the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, located just outside Johannesburg, is a must-visit destination. This archaeological treasure trove is home to numerous fossil sites, including the Sterkfontein Caves, where some of the oldest hominid fossils ever discovered have been found.

Arrive in Jo'burg
We'll meet you at the agreed collection point and introduce you to your guide and driver, who will be with you throughout your tour.
We will then make our way to the hotel you'll be staying in for the next two nights. The hotel will be in an area such as Sandton, Melville, Melrose or Fourways and will be dependent on the group size. On our way we will give you an overview of the tour, a personalised itinerary with all of your activities (including any you've opted for) and a brief history and "lowdown" on the province.

Dinner at Marvelous Marble
Once settled, we will head for dinner at Marble in Sandton, known as the richest square mile in Africa.
Marble is a celebration of quintessential South African fare. Situated in Keyes Art Mile, the growing art and food hub of Rosebank, Marble boasts a grand wood-fired grill as the focal point of the restaurant. The concept combines the open-fire trend seen internationally with an added dose of good South African flair.
Around 23:00 we will start to make our way back to the hotel. For anyone wishing to stay on and party the night away, we can advise on areas which are safe and great for a good night out. We would always recommend travelling in groups at night and using Uber Black for transportation.

Explore Melville's Food and Farmer’s Market
Melville, located in Johannesburg, is a vibrant and eclectic neighborhood known for its bohemian atmosphere, artistic flair, and diverse community.
Despite its modern vibe, Melville retains its historical charm with its tree-lined streets, Victorian-style architecture, and historic landmarks. Throughout the neighbourhood, you'll discover hidden gems and architectural marvels that tell the story of its rich history. Visit History at the Apartheid Museum
We will start our day with a visit to the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg. The museum provides a poignant and comprehensive overview of South Africa's apartheid era, showcasing the struggle for freedom and democracy. Visitors can explore multimedia exhibits, artifacts, and personal accounts that highlight the injustices of apartheid and the resilience of those who fought against it.

Learn about Constitution Hill
Following the museum, we will head to Constitution Hill, also situated in Johannesburg. This former prison complex once held prominent political activists, including Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi. Today, it stands as a symbol of South Africa's journey towards democracy, housing the country's Constitutional Court and serving as a testament to the triumph of justice over oppression.

Melrose Arch is a vibrant mixed-use precinct located in Johannesburg. It is known for its upscale lifestyle offerings, including retail outlets, co-working spaces, restaurants, hotels, residential apartments, and entertainment venues. Situated in the leafy suburbs of Melrose, Melrose Arch has become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
Following breakfast, our journey will take us to the Cradle of Humankind, a distinguished UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled approximately 50 kilometers northwest of Johannesburg.
As the sole World Heritage Site in Gauteng and one of eight in South Africa, the Cradle of Humankind holds profound significance as the birthplace of humankind.
Encompassing an expansive area of around 47,000 hectares, it stands as a testament to the remarkable progress in understanding human evolution. Notably, it harbors the largest concentration of human ancestral remains worldwide.

After exploring the Cradle of Humankind, we will stop for lunch in the charming town of Magaliesburg where you will have the option to choose from one of the local restaurants or cafes and enjoy a leisurely meal surrounded by beautiful scenery
Magaliesburg is situated about 75 kilometers northwest of Johannesburg and about 95 kilometers west of Pretoria. The area is home to several rivers, streams, and waterfalls, adding to its natural charm and in addition to its natural beauty, Magaliesburg also boasts a number of cultural attractions. These include art galleries, craft markets, and historical sites that showcase the area's rich heritage.
