We ask that all guests respect the rules of the reserve and follow guidance from their Ranger at all times.
  • I've been told Gauteng and in particular, Johannesburg, is a no go zone - is it true?
Most definitely not! Johannesburg, like many large cities around the world, has areas that require caution, but it also offers plenty of safe and enjoyable places for tourists including the likes of Sandton, Rosebank, Melville, Melrose Arch and Irene. Pretoria has a much more relaxed feel than Johannesburg and areas like Menlyn, Waterkloof, Hazelwood are perfectly safe to explore alone or as a group. Surrounding areas like Dinokeng and Rietvlei Nature Reserve, Cullinan, Magaliesberg, Muldersdrift, and Hartbeespoort offer a safe and tranquil escape from city life. It's important for visitors to exercise common sense and awareness, as with any major city. Keeping your belongings secure, avoiding displaying valuables openly, and using reputable transport services are advisable.
  • Which is better Johannesburg or Cape Town?
Deciding between Johannesburg and Cape Town really depends on what you're looking for in a destination. Cape Town is known for its stunning natural beauty, iconic landmarks like Table Mountain, and vibrant cultural scene. It offers fantastic dining options, outdoor activities, and a laid-back atmosphere. On the other hand, Johannesburg is a bustling metropolis, often referred to as the "City of Gold," and serves as the economic hub of South Africa. It has a diverse cultural scene, historical attractions, and is a gateway to nearby game reserves and other provinces. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preferences and what you hope to experience during your visit. Both cities have their own unique charm and attractions to offer.
