Autumn in Pretoria

BEST OF PRETORIA

Pretoria is one of South Africa's three Capital Cities alongside Cape Town and Bloemfontein. Pretoria is a beautiful city and has numerous well-kept landmarks and is adorned with large parks and gardens, graceful government buildings, and wide avenues of purple flowering jacarandas.

Known as the Jacaranda City for all the purple blossom-bedecked trees, which line its thoroughfares, Pretoria is a lovely, quiet city. It has a long, involved and fascinating history. Here you will find significant old buildings and well esembled museums.

Pretoria has a warm climate all year round and the vibrant student lifestyle has meant that small markets, art galleries, theatres and eclectic eateries are to be found tucked away in most suburbs.

Our Best of Pretoria tour offers travellers the chance to explore Pretoria's highlights, ranging from trendy urban areas to wild open plains. We want people to see for themselves why we fell in love with this city and now call it home.

Price: R8,000 per person based on two people sharing, or R10,000 for a single occupancy supplement.

Example Itinerary

We'll meet you at the agreed collection point and introduce you to your guide and driver, who will be with you throughout your tour.

The Mint Hotel at The Blyde is a water-lover's paradise based in Pretoria East. Smoke is a space that celebrates South Africa's incredible wines and MCCS and the nations love for the outdoors and cooking with fire.

Around 22:00 we will make our way back to the hotel for a restful nights sleep.

Friday @ 19:30

Dinner in Hazelwood

We are afraid it's a super early start - as we want to ensure you the best chance of spotting as much wildlife as possible. Don't worry there's plenty of time to relax later in the day.

Dinokeng is the only Big 5 reserve in Gauteng and has the added advantage of being malaria-free and conveniently located just 35 minutes away from Pretoria. Situated within the boundaries of a large metropolis, the 20,000H Dinokeng Game Reserve has the potential to become a model for future conservation where people and wild animals live in harmony.

Hints of Africa offers guests a guided game drive on an open safari vehicle driven by a qualified guide. The game drive takes 2 to 3 hours during which you will stop for a drink and snack at a scenic spot on the way, where you can soak up the sounds and sights of Mother Nature.

Irene Diary Farm is the ultimate farm in the city. It's a picturesque gem that is nestled between the sprawling cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg, a visit to this old-style, storybook, working farm in the city is a must! The farm offers on-site restaurants (including their famous breakfast buffet), a fully stocked farm shop, walking trails and the opportunity to get up close and personal with the herd.

Breakfast in Irene

Post breakfast we will head back to the hotel to take advantage of relaxing on the beach by the lagoon. For those of you who wish to use facilities such as the kayaks, paddle boards or gym - this is the perfect opportunity to do so. And for those, who'd perhaps prefer a pamper, treatments can be booked at the spa in advance.

Chill Out at The Blyde Lagoon

Our favourite dining experience in Pretoria has to be the sensational theatrical musical experience with dinner at Casa Toscana Lodge’s on-site restaurant. On quiet evenings a waiter will serenade individual tables and on fuller evenings they host a full, singing and dancing production - it's fair to say both experiences are equally incredible.

The joyous, foot-tapping show finishes around 21:00 and last drinks are served at 22:00.

Be Entertained by the Lesi Singing Waiters

After breakfast at The Blyde Vista Restaurant we will head to the Voortrekker Monument which is located just south of Pretoria. The Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria, was built in honour of the Voortrekkers—a group of Dutch settlers (or Afrikaners). The iconic granite structure renowned for its Art Deco design commemorates the Voortrekkers that left the Cape between 1835 and 1854.

Explore History at the Voortrekker Monument

Following our visit to the Voortrekker Monument, we will make our way Menlyn Park Shopping Centre which is one of the biggest retail destinations in the Southern Hemisphere, situated east of Pretoria. With over 300 stores and more than 40 food outlets, it caters for the young and old, as well as all needs and budgets. The centre is also one of the most popular entertainment venues in the region with numerous entertainment options.

Shop till you drop at Menlyn Park

Sadly it's now time to say goodbye and we will ensure your safe arrival back at your chosen drop off point.

Until next time my friend, take good care!

Time to say goodbye
